To My Granddaughter - Para Mi Nietecita
while pedaling her little bike
(training wheels dragging behind),
early Sunday morning.
Little birds cheerily chirp
their salute to the new day
and her laughter brightly rings,
early Sunday morning.
Sunrays hitting the rose buds
reveal greens and velvet pinks
not unlike her cheeks and eyes
early Sunday morning.
All is quiet in the house
everyone else is asleep
she is outside in her pajamas,
early Sunday morning.
And I sit quietly and smile
sharing in this magic hour
with my daughter’s little daughter
early Sunday morning.

I SAW THIS MOVIE TODAY AND I LIKED IT - VI ESTE DVD HOY Y ME GUSTO

- Srita. Marienne Hotchkiss

GOOD TIRED - BUEN CANSANCIO
After 21 months of unemployment, I find myself, suddenly, working eight hours a day. It is a simple job, as a translator at the county social services office. But, after almost two years of resting, reading, writing, here and in other blogs, playing computer games and with my grandkids, watching DVD's, visiting my relatives and acting as driver and tourist guide for our friends and relatives visiting us in California; the fact that I have to wake up early and go to work every day (80 miles round trip), is making me tired. However, as my friend Myrtle used to say: "It is Good Tired". In these terrible times of recession and what have you, I am Grateful to God for helping get this job, which I am enjoying very, very much.

– George Bernard Shaw
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas. – George Bernard Shaw

WARNING - By Jenny Joseph
Warning - When I am old woman I shall wear purple!
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple - - with a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run with my stick along public railings, and make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick flowers in other people's gardens and learn to spit!
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat and eat three pounds of sausages at a go, or only bread and pickles for a week, and hoard pens and pencils and beer mats and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry, and pay our rent and not swear in the street, and set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
